Mac earned his B.B.A. in accounting from Southern Methodist University in May, 1973. In September, 1972 he started his accounting career working at Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche) in Dallas, TX. In August, 1975 he moved back to Marshall after accepting a position with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company (now KPMG) in Shreveport, LA.
In September, 1976 Mac and his wife Claudia founded Abney & Company, P.C. (now Abney, Simmons & Company, P.L.L.C.) in Marshall. Also, he served as an adjunct professor at EastTexasBaptistUniversity from September, 1977 until December, 1994 teaching Accounting, Income Tax, Economics and Personal Finance.
Mac was licensed in March, 1975 as a CPA in Texas and Louisiana. Also, he was licensed as a Certified Financial Planner in March, 1989 and as a Personal Financial Specialist in March, 1995.
He is a member of the American Institute on CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, East Texas Chapter of CPAs, and American Financial Planning Division. Mac has served on the executive boards of many civic organizations over the years. He currently serves as treasurer of the Harrison County Emergency Services District# 2, the Tommy & Lucille Slaughter Foundation #2, the Turney Foundation Board of Directors, and the Pelz Foundation Board of Directors.
In August of 2009, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Sabine River Authority by Governor Rick Perry where he is currently serving as the chairman of the audit committee.
Claudia earned her B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Arkansas in May, 1973. In September, 1976 after working for a few years in Fayetteville, AR and Dallas, TX for local accounting firms, she and her husband Mac founded Abney & Company, P.C. (now Abney, Simmons & Company, P.L.L.C.) in Marshall, TX. Claudia was licensed as a CPA in October, 1976.
She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, and East Texas Chapter of CPAs. Claudia has served on the executive boards of several civic and cultural organizations.
In May of 2000, she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Sabine River Authority by Governor George Bush where she served as the chairman of the audit committee until January of 2008. She is also as past president of the Board of Directors of the Sabine River Authority.
In January of 2010, she was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Governor's Commission for Women for a two year term.
Julie earned her B.B.A. in accounting from EastTexasBaptistUniversity in December, 1989. In January, 1990 she started working at Abney & Company, P.C. (now Abney, Simmons & Company, P.L.L.C.) and was named partner in November, 1996. Julie was licensed as a CPA in August, 1996.
She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, and East Texas Chapter of CPAs. Julie has served on the executive boards of several civic organizations in the past. She currently serves as treasurer of the Harrison County Unit of the Salvation Army Board of Directors and as the Accounting Division Chairperson for the Harrison County United Way Fundraiser. Also, Julie currently serves as the chairperson on her church finance committee and is currently serving on the Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall Board of Directors.
Julie and her husband Ronnie are active members of NewHebronBaptistChurch in Elysian Fields. They have two children, Jordan and Haden. Julie enjoys spending time watching her kids participate in athletic events and other extracurricular activities. She and her family also enjoy hunting, fishing, and riding four wheelers.

Chris earned his B.B.A. in accounting from East Texas Baptist University in May, 2000. He has worked for Abney, Simmons & Company, P.L.L.C. since June 2000 and was named partner in November, 2006. Chris was licensed as a CPA in March, 2003.
He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, and East Texas Chapter of CPAs. Chris volunteers each year with the Society of St. Stephens Christmas Project and served as the Kettle Drive Chairman in 2006 for the Harrison County Unit of the Salvation Army. Chris is very active with the local Chamber of Commerce and is currently serving on the Board of Directors and as treasurer for the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. Also, Chris is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Marshall and currently serves on his church finance committee and as treasurer for the Marshall Channel Board of Directors.
Chris and his wife DeDe are active members of First United Methodist Church in Marshall. They do not have any children at this time, but DeDe gets to spend plenty of time with children since she is employed as a Bilingual Head Start teacher for the Marshall ISD. They both enjoy frequent trips to Galveston, and Chris enjoys playing golf and is an avid sports fan.
Melissa earned her B.S. in accounting from LeTourneau University in May, 2011. She started working for Abney, Simmons & Company, P.L.L.C. in November, 2011 after previously working for an oil & gas company in Longview. Melissa is currently pursuing an M.B.A. from LeTourneau University and plans on sitting for the CPA exam upon graduation.
Melissa is a student member of the Texas Society of CPAs.
Melissa and her husband Andrew attend Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview. They have one daughter, Madalynn. Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and taking dance lessons.
Bobbie is a 1982 graduate of Pine Tree High School in Longview, TX. She started working for Abney, Simmons & Company, P.L.L.C. in July, 2007 after previously working for another local accounting firm.
Bobbie attends Central Baptist Church in Marshall. She has three children, Keath, Jessica, and Matthew. Also, she has four grandchildren, Evan, Brynn, Ezra, and Kayla. Bobbie stays busy outside of work reading, watching movies, and attending Matthew's extracurricular activities.
